Stone is our passion

James A. Asbury
Dear Friends,

Now is the perfect time to think about your upcoming projects. No matter if it’s a wall, walkway, patio or a water garden, Mountaineer Stone is the right source for stone. I’ve been building dry stone walls since I was twenty years old, and I never had any idea I would find my calling in the stone trade. I think my interest in stone walls and other stone architecture has given me a deeper interest in the raw stone that is needed to create the finest stone structure.
In fact, I’ve attended some great workshops about wall building and stone techniques in order to understand the needs of today’s wall builder, landscaper, and architect. One of the best was sponsored by the Dry Stone Conservancy of Lexington, Kentucky, which provides high quality workshops for dry stone enthusiasts of all skill levels. To see photos of the workshop I attended, click here.
In closing, I would like to emphasize that Mountaineer Stone is ready for all your natural stone needs. We strive to meet and even exceed your expectations. We know that quality is what you expect, and that is what we aim to deliver. Call us today at (570) 549-2203. We look forward to serving you.
At Mountaineer Stone, stone is our passion.

Sincerely,
James A. Asbury

Pictured above are two traditionally built dry stone retaining walls created using hand-picked fieldstone. According to James, "This was a fun job! Though the walls themselves weren't especially complicated to build, I took great joy during this job knowing that I was helping to reshape the landscape into a more useable form. This land used to be unusable. Now, this land is ideal for gardening."
